Walk & Talk Therapy in Sacramento

offering walk & talk therapy in sacramento, california

Ever notice how it’s easier to talk about big, difficult issues when you’re riding in a car with someone? The whole not-having-to-make-eye-contact relieves tension, reduces feelings of vulnerability, and can make it much easier to open up. Plus, bilateral movements like walking actually help our brains process information more deeply. Walk & Talk therapy offers all of this!

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

Walk & Talk is simply therapy held outdoors while walking. Instead of the traditional sit-on-the-couch-and-talk therapy, we walk together while we process and work toward achieving your goals. Just like regular therapy, you set the pace, and we’re there for support and guidance. We can walk the same path each session or change it from week to week, all based on your preference. You come in your comfy clothes and shoes, and we bring the therapeutic support and expertise!

Why choose walk & talk?

  • If you prefer to move around, instead of being stuck in place

  • If you get overwhelmed with too much attention focused on you or if making eye contact feels too hard

  • If you have a hard time sitting still in general or when you’re anxious

  • If you know that being outside and moving around feels good to you

  • If you feel like you already do too much sitting in your life! (We hear you—us too!)

What are the benefits of Walk & Talk?

  • Many people DO find it easier to dig deep and get vulnerable when they don’t need to make direct eye contact.

  • Research shows that being outside in green spaces is good for us as human beings and tends to have a positive impact on emotional well-being.

  • Physical movement can help get us unstuck emotionally.

  • Research indicates that bilateral movement, which includes activities like walking or running, helps activate both the right and left hemispheres of the brain, which can take healing to a deeper level.

  • You get to be outside and walk!
