Therapist in Sacramento, CA
My approach for individual therapy and counseling for relationships
You may be seeking support in moving toward a more preferred version of yourself, your life, and your relationships. You may be questioning important facets of your identity, or wondering how to locate and uproot the seeds of painful and complicated emotions. Perhaps you are curious about navigating a different type of relational structure with your loved ones, or you may be feeling stuck with a particular challenge in the way you connect to others. My role as a therapist is to provide support and facilitate insight that will allow you to work toward your personal goals.
I believe that pain and hardship can grow from both individual and societal wounds, and it is important to me that I acknowledge the many systems of oppression that contribute to human suffering. I also believe that it is possible to soothe some of that hardship though safe relationships, self awareness and compassion, and insight into patterns of thinking and feeling.
My values as a therapist are strongly rooted in person-centered and collaborative frameworks that seek to flatten the traditional hierarchy between client and clinician. I aim to act not as an expert, but as a co-traveller able to point out unexplored avenues and possibilities. During our visits, I will facilitate a culture of feedback by checking in about the content and pacing of our work together. It is important to me that when our sessions end you do not feel overly raw and imposed upon, but curious and encouraged for your next steps.
my specialties include lgbtq therapy, trauma therapy, and relationship issues:
Individuals or couples struggling with relationship issues
Trauma (especially survivors of sexual trauma and abuse)
Members of the Queer and LBGT+ communities
Overcoming depression and therapy for anxiety (acute anxiety, panic attack help, social anxiety, etc.)
Childhood emotional neglect (CEN)
Individuals practicing polyamory and other types of consensual non-monogamy
Kink, BDSM, and consensual lifestyle power exchange practitioners

More about me
Outside of my life as a therapist, I can often be found in the kitchen prepping and modifying elements of whatever latest cooking projects I've dreamt up for the week or spending time at Sacramento queer locales and community events. I am a spoken word artist and musician, which includes coming up with as many parody songs as possible about my elderly cat, "Mother".
I have deep personal familiarity with dynamics and challenges of neurodiverse relationships (with specific regard to OCD and ADHD), chronic illness and pain, and the impact of attachment ruptures and wounds in early life. I can write a mean limerick and I have no compunctions about dancing to the music playing at grocery stores!
