Thrive Therapy & Counseling provides high quality therapy to Highly Sensitive People and to kids, teens or adults struggling with anxiety, depression or self-esteem.

FAQs & Fees

  • Therapy appointments are 50-55 minutes. Our therapists may be able to offer longer appointments by request. 

  • Therapy is most effective when you meet with your therapist consistently, so we offer weekly or biweekly (every other week) appointments. As you make progress toward your goals, we can reduce the frequency of sessions to support and maintain your work.

  • Licensed therapist: $175 per 50-55 minute session

    Associate therapist: $145 per 50-55 minute session

  • A couple of Thrive’s therapists accept these insurances, and we will bill them for your therapy sessions with your permission. Please note we cannot guarantee that our therapists who take these insurances will have openings for new clients.

    Insurers require a qualifying diagnosis and have the right to access your mental health record, in order to pay for therapy.

    Insurances will not pay or reimburse for therapy with associate therapists.

  • Out-of-network benefits (OON) - Thrive provides you with a monthly statement you submit to your insurance for reimbursement. You can contact the mental or behavioral health phone number on the back of your insurance card (or on your insurer’s website) to confirm if you have OON benefits. Insurers require that you see a licensed therapist to receive reimbursement.

    FSA or HSA card - You may use your FSA or HSA card provided through your insurance plan to pay for therapy with any licensed or associate therapist at Thrive.

    Pay out-of-pocket - You may choose at any time to pay for your therapy sessions without using insurance. Some clients select this option because they do not wish for insurers to have access to their diagnosis or records.

  • As therapists, we undergo a rigorous training program. In addition to completing our graduate coursework, we obtain 3,000 hours of clinical experience, engage in weekly clinical supervision, and pass two licensing exams. Once we are licensed, we complete ongoing continuing education throughout our careers.

    Registered Associate marriage and family therapists, also called AMFTs, are in the process of working toward licensure.

    Licensed therapists, also called LMFTs, are fully licensed and participate in continuing education to maintain their license.

  • This depends on your goals and what you want to address. You and your therapist will identify your goals starting with the first session, and you can check in regularly about your progress and needs.

  • Masks are no longer required for in-person sessions.

    Any person who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who has tested positive for Covid (even if asymptomatic) should NOT enter the office or attend in-person sessions. Instead, please notify your therapist and meet via telehealth until you test negative.

    If you (or your child, if they are the person receiving therapy) are having any symptoms of illness, including any cold or flu symptoms, please notify your therapist, and switch to telehealth sessions until the symptoms are gone.

    We recommend that clients who identify as a member of a vulnerable or high risk population continue telehealth until further notice.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care, including mental health care, will cost. 

    Under the law, patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance have the right to an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. 

    You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. 

    You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. 

    If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
